Kwame, Kwame, Kwame

Perjury (noun) the offense of deliberately telling an untruth in court when under oath.

Okay, we here in the Detroit Metro area are now given more evidence of more lies. The question becomes, can Detroit still be ran efficiently with this new distraction. Funny I just posted on this blog the distraction concerning Obama and now there is one concerning Kwame Kilpatrick. All I can say is, “Lord, give me a break please.” It is no surprise to me that most people are probably tired of the same old bull going back and forth in local and national politics.

The reason being, whether the President admits it or not, we are in a recession. We need to get to work fixing this country’s financial woes. The state of Michigan is in a worse state than the rest of the country. Michigan never really recovered after 9/11. I know, because I took a leap of faith and started a new career of writing in 2002 and the results have not been good. Don’t get me wrong. There have been ups but mostly downs for me. Bad timing on my part. The recession started in Michigan in 2002and continued on until the whole country is now affected. Blame it on the war, blame it on politics, blame it on whatever you want, it’s here now and needs fixing.

This makes it hard for the rest of the country to understand or have any desire to come to Michigan. Kilpatrick’s issues don’t help either. Detroit is the biggest city in Michigan. It is the home of the Big Three and the rest of the auto industry. When people think Michigan, they think Detroit, not Lansing, Grand Rapids, or Pontiac. This puts Kwame Kilpatrick in a precarious state as mayor. Should he stay or should he go is the question?

Here’s what I think and why. Yes, he should resign. But what you may have not thought of is this. If Kilpatrick resigns, he collects no unemployment here in Michigan. The state changed that law back in the 1980s. If he is let go by the city council, then unemployment can be disbursed to him. Now think about it. Kilpatrick has mounting legal fees, a family to take care of, and who knows how many other bills coming every month and no home of his own. With a foundation set up to help him with his legal cost, how would all the other expenses be covered if he gets no unemployment. So, I think he is hanging in until he is let go to be able to receive some money without a job. By the way, if you were an employer, would you hire him after this scandal that has surfaced? I don’t think so. That is why Kilpatrick won’t quit. It’s a money thing.

Obama, Wright or Whomever

As a Black independent voter in America, I listen to righteous debates, I tune out mudslinging. When it comes to electing the head of the household of the USA, I have no interest in personal innuendoes or anything similar to one.

Lately, I have noticed that no one, and I mean no one, seem to remember the reasons behind an election coming up to select an individual to run a country in the best interest of billions of people. This upsets me greatly. I have no desire to hear about what is on a candidate’s personal slate. My mind is set on how the company will be ran. Yes, I said company. The USA is a big corporation and the CEO is the one in charge. If the CEO is not up to par, then the company will go bust.

Look at the shape the company is in now. It is going broke. Its employees no longer can do their jobs and headquarters needs a shake out. What does this have to do with Obama and Wright? Everything. Obama and Clinton are climbing the corporate ladder to become the next CEO of the USA. If Wright can attempt to derail Obama, as well as, Clinton and Obama try to derail each other, then independent voters like me, have to seriously consider who should be elected and who should not.

People wake up and smell the coffee. As you look to make a decision on who should become the next CEO of this country, do not buy into the mudslinging, no matter which direction it comes from. Stick to the details of running this country. Listen for the details and not the bull crap under cover as genuine customer (you) concerns.

Clinton was yesterday’s distraction and Wright is today’s. Tomorrow you can bet there will be another distraction to keep you unbalanced when it comes to deciding who is best at running the company of the USA. Stay focused on what is being offered to you the customer. You do it when you go shopping and that is what you are actually doing now to select the next president of the USA. Let not the dissenters or acerbic customers keep you from making a choice of your choosing instead of theirs. That's what the right to vote means. That is why it is of the utmost importance. Don’t waste your time on those who don’t understand you and your wants, whether it is Wright, Clinton, McCain, or Obama.

Whew! I have been busy. An Update.

I know, I know, you haven’t heard from me for some time. Sorry. I have been working my behind off. With two stories to write for anthologies, a magazine piece, and four school writing projects - with one being a research thesis type - I have not had much time for bloging. Don’t forget I tutor and do workshops also. One other thing, I took a long workshop on grant writing and had to put a grant together to submit to the professor, all of this in the last month. I am now a certified grant writer. Have papers to verify it too. Yea!

My schedule has been so hectic in these past two months, I thought I was about to go crazy. Not only have I been busy but, the Metro Area I live in was too. Detroit has been on the airways for so many reasons I wouldn’t know where to begin talking about it. I am sure you have seen the mess about the city and its scandal. Then yesterday, one of Michigan’s senator's husband was caught with a prostitute. As a writer, I would have a ton of stories to blog about considering the powers that be are supplying me all the fodder I would need to blog.

Anyway, just thought I’d let you know, I am still around, working hard. I beg you to give me just a little more space and I will get back to you by the end of this month. I am only one person with only two hands and one head. Guess what? My head is full right now. As soon as some of this clears up, you will see me back to bloging with a vengeance.

Talk to you later!
