Letter to the TV Networks: The Decade is Not Over Yet!

Ask any mathematician or check your dictionary and you will see that the decade is not over. It doesn’t end until December 31, 2010. A decade is a period of ten years starting with the number one! You know counting years of ten, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. Why do so few know this?

It is so sad to see news anchors and journalists at/on the top TV stations such as NBC, FOX2 and CBS that don’t even know when a decade starts and when it ends, for shame, for shame, for shame on you. And you call yourselves professionals. And you even have staff to check on it for you. You should fire them. They are not doing their job from what I’ve heard and seen today on TV about the so called “past” decade.

By the way, what schools did you television people go to? The teachers would fall down crying knowing that you don’t remember all they taught you. Especially your past elementary school teachers because that is where you first learned about decades. Please, whatever you do, don’t retire from TV and start teaching. We already have enough people that can’t count. Remember Murdoff and all the Wall Street giants like AIG and Chase couldn’t count either. Shall I start comparing you to them?

You are misleading the children of the world into thinking that the decade has gone and it has not. Aren’t they having enough trouble with children and their learning curves already? It does not help when the kids hear mistakes spoken by the people they emulate or want to be like. Please when you go back on camera, would you please correct yourselves? I am tired of hearing over and over about the past decade that has not yet come. Do it for me and for the children that just might be listening to you.

Yours truly,
Sylvia
